Hello and thank you for visiting Plainstitch!

For pattern inquiries, please email me. elizabeth…at…plainstitch…dot…com.

My name is Elizabeth Davis. I live in Nashville, TN. My mom taught me to knit back in 1990-something (neither of us can really remember when). I’ve been engaged in creative pursuits all my life, mostly writing and painting. Recently I got a hankering to design my own knits, so I set up a little studio and called it Plainstitch.

My design influences include nature, music, folklore, geometry, visual arts, modern design, color, nostalgia, and other things. I prefer minimally-processed wool, 3/4 sleeves (good for working with the hands), endless stockinette, and extra pointy needles. I’m a sucker for yarn with a story.

In addition to knitting, I love to read, write, paint pictures, do yoga, take walks in woods, grow vegetables, cook vegetables, eat vegetables, watch birds, feed birds, hang out with my cats, and laugh at the tv with my husband.

Feel free to say hello, I’d love to hear from you!

Hello, On your PDF pattern of Bogolan would it be possible for you to indicate that a sport weight yarn is used? I purchased the pattern (thanks for doing this for charity) but since Classic Elite yarns are not widely available where I am, I have no clue what weight that yarn is unless I go to the Ravelry listing. Thanks for your consideration of this issue.

Hi Leslie, Thank you for bringing this to my attention. I’m sorry for any inconvenience this may have caused; I’ll put a note in a revised version of the pdf. Any yarn that knits to the specified gauge may be used – most people will knit a sport, dk, or light worsted weight to this pattern’s gauge, depending on the size needle. Hope that helps & good luck.

Hi Elizabeth — I purchased this pattern and it downloaded as a corrupt file. If you could please message me (lauren at laurenbee dot com) and help me get a good copy? I’d much appreciate it, thanks.
